Field Project Manager 1

About the role

Convergint is seeking a full‑time, enthusiastic, results‑driven Field Project Manager to join its culture. The role includes installation, programming, system start‑up/check‑out, certification, and customer training on assigned fire, security, and/or building automation projects. The Field Project Manager works with management and the administrative project team to ensure projects are executed within contractual scope, budget, and schedule.

Responsibilities

• Oversee overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract.
• Work with the Project Coordinator to prepare the project installation plan and implement job procedures.
• Supervise Project Specialists, Installers, and subcontractors in the field.
• Provide managerial responsibilities such as mentoring, coaching, developing colleagues, planning, assigning, and directing work.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, directing on‑site activities and verifying quality‑assurance standards.
• Assist the Project Coordinator in overall coordination of specific projects, recommend potential scope changes, and identify ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
• Identify potential project risks, communicate to appropriate parties, and help develop and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure overall quality of installations in accordance with national and local codes and company standards.
• Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation.
• Serve as the key interface for technical support and training for the customer, maximizing customer satisfaction.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

• Exceptional customer focus with the ability to work under pressure and proactively meet customer needs.
• Strong supervision and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
• Proven field supervision skills and ability to troubleshoot problems and devise solutions.
• Self‑starter who works well without supervision.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude; proficient with hand and power tools (drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and able to read blueprints and drawings.
• Advanced math skills for calculations such as area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.
• Frequent visits to job sites; minimal overnight travel required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum experience: 5–7 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred (but not required) experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
• College degree in Electronics (preferred).
