Field Project Engineer III

About the Role

The Field Project Engineer III oversees and monitors the design and project management team on behalf of the Business Unit. This position coordinates technical deliverables, supports discipline engineering, and manages basic engineering for projects. The role involves developing conceptual and basic engineering documents, including system layouts, equipment arrangements, design criteria, PFDs, and major equipment specifications. The Field Project Engineer III serves as the primary technical contact with clients on major projects and oversees technical communication for minor or single-discipline efforts.

Responsibilities

• Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”
• Monitors the development of overall system design, ensuring the proper sequence of engineering is followed for projects.
• Works with the project delivery team to deliver a quality product while maintaining schedule and achieving project success.
• Oversees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices.
• Provides technical support to Project Managers, including developing and maintaining project cost/change controls, budgets, and accounting records.
• Performs change order estimating and assists in change order negotiations.
• Coordinates and monitors schedule updates, invoices, and submittals.
• Assists in managing and reviewing contractors' construction schedules.
• Reviews weekly and monthly reports on project status, progress, costs, and potential changes.
• Reports project status to the business/market leader.
• Attends client program meetings as needed.
• Oversees construction quality assurance.
• Investigates engineering and field issues to develop mutually acceptable solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or other related discipline.
• 5+ years of heavy industrial experience in field engineering, project engineering, or construction management.
• Demonstrated experience in one of the following industries: chemical plants, liquid terminals, natural gas liquids, or liquid natural gas.
• Understanding of industrial construction processes, structures, and technologies.
• General understanding of all engineering disciplines, with strength in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation preferred.
• Ability to analyze problems, make technical decisions, and implement solutions.
• Demonstrated experience following quality assurance and control procedures.

Schedule

Initial assignments will be field positions at construction sites throughout North America with periodic stints in an office.

Physical Demands

Light physical effort required to sit or stand, reach, bend, and move about the facility (including ladders and stairs).
