About the role
The Field Mechanic performs maintenance, preventive repairs, and minor equipment fixes across project sites within a designated area, primarily in Iowa. Supported by a company-provided vehicle, fuel card, and lodging, they ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. The role often involves local travel and responding to emergencies outside regular hours. Field Mechanics may oversee less experienced mechanics and are responsible for safety inspections, record-keeping, and compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs.
- Track repairs and maintenance using software.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the service vehicle.
- Work independently while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- Complete safety documentation and comply with company policies.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in heavy truck or equipment repair or completion of vocational/technical training with 4 years of experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work reliably and independently.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency with mechanical tools and safety protocols.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Must be dependable and able to work safely in various conditions.
- Capable of using mechanical tools and testing equipment.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and understand regulatory guidelines.
Pay
Hourly wage of $42.87.
