Field Inventory Control Specialist II

About the Role

To produce store inventory results that alert the company to operational problems, including theft, accounting errors, paperwork, pricing, cash discrepancies, and evaluating the use of approved company shrink control systems. This involves physical counting as well as evaluating inventory conditions and adherence to company shrink standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support an audit process of 1-3 Field Audit Control Specialists to conduct a physical inventory of store merchandise. Every item of retail value and designated cost items in each store is counted or scanned, including saleable merchandise, overstocks, damaged product, and returns.
• Evaluate inventory conditions as measured by the Company's audit readiness standards. Teach and coach Store Managers on proper readiness standards and deliver poor results in a professional and motivational manner.
• Produce an immediate audit result for each unit at the time of the inventory by comparing the physical inventory against the book balance, adjusting for sales, unreported purchases, transfers, and price changes on both a retail and cost basis, as well as at an item level.
• Research the inventory result to ensure accuracy, making necessary adjustments and corrections using reports, summaries, and figures from corporate, vendor deliveries, returns, retailing, gross margins, price changes, sales figures, and accounting discrepancies.
• Evaluate the Manager's execution on the Company's Shrink Standards through multiple-tiered questions based on the Manager's reports and feedback, often involving determinations on the validity of paperwork and statements.
• Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction, accuracy, and speed while performing essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Preferred Education: Associate's degree
• Minimum Experience: Retail Guest Service Leader, Shift Supervisor, or Keyholder
• Preferred Experience: Retail Store Manager and/or inventory auditing experience
• Soft Skills: Effective communication (written and verbal), ability to deliver feedback professionally and motivationally, work cohesively with store and audit teams, self-discipline, good judgment in analyzing complex information, positive attitude, team-oriented, and flexibility.
• Travel: Ability to travel long distances daily and overnight as business warrants.
• Hours & Conditions: Full-time availability Monday through Friday, with varying hours (40-45 hours per week). Early start times, typically arriving at locations by 5:00 AM, with ending times varying daily.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, endure long periods of standing, kneeling, and squatting, and work in wide temperature variations (e.g., freezer and refrigeration).
