Field Installation Technician

Responsibilities

• Travel to various customer sites in the U.S. and Canada to install Safe Fleet equipment or other PTLW mobile products, including main computers, ECM Y connectors, touchscreen monitors, cameras (various vehicle locations), and external sensors such as lift arms, dual position lift sensors, proximity sensors, and RFID readers.
• Set up and verify new units to ensure they come online, perform final commissioning and testing, and confirm the waste truck is “Ready for Dispatch.”
• Troubleshoot system components, effect repairs or replacements for defective or damaged parts, and reprogram or re-image existing equipment.
• Provide training to customers and technicians.
• Complete and deliver necessary documentation.
• Safely use a variety of hand tools required for the job.

Requirements

• MECP Basic Installation Technician Certification or an Electronics Engineering Technician Diploma from a college institution.
• A minimum of one year of experience in a mobile installation environment (preference given to candidates experienced with Class 7 and Class 8 vehicles).
• A strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, including multiplexed systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills (essential).
• Computer and basic networking skills (essential).
• Education or experience in installing and setting up access points.
• Ability to completely install, program, and demonstrate a variety of mobile surveillance and sensor products in commercial vehicles within passenger transportation, law enforcement, and waste management markets.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the U.S. and Canada regularly for extended periods (up to 90% of the time).
• Willingness to work non-standard shifts, weekends, and possibly holidays if required by a specific job.
