About the role
DecisionPoint Technologies is seeking a Field Installation Technician to install and deploy point-of-sale (POS) hardware, networking equipment, and low-voltage infrastructure at customer locations throughout the Midwest and across the United States. This is a field-based position supporting retail stores, restaurants, warehouses, and distribution centers.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot POS systems, PCs, printers, scanners, routers, switches, wireless access points, and related technology.
- Pull, route, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling following industry standards.
- Perform pre-installation site surveys and identify installation requirements.
- Read blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, customers, and fellow technicians to complete projects safely and on schedule.
- Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, and installation issues in the field.
- Maintain accurate installation documentation and project reports.
- Ensure company equipment, tools, and vehicles are properly maintained.
- Deliver outstanding customer service while representing DecisionPoint Technologies professionally.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Experience installing POS systems, networking equipment, PCs, or other technology solutions.
- Experience pulling and terminating low-voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber preferred).
- Comfortable using powered hand tools and installation equipment.
- Ability to read technical drawings and installation diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required).
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A+, Network+, BICSI, or other industry certifications.
- Experience supporting retail, restaurant, warehouse, or distribution center deployments.
- Knowledge of Windows, Linux, networking fundamentals, and enterprise technology deployments.
Travel & Physical Requirements
- Approximately 85% travel throughout the Midwest and other regions of the United States.
- Overnight travel is required.
- Weekend work may be necessary based on customer schedules and project timelines.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in active commercial environments.
- Ability to safely operate scissor lifts and personnel lifts.
- Must be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced field environment.

Pay
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour.
