About the role

Join Benesch’s Railroad Division as an on-call Construction Site Inspector. You will supervise construction inspections nationwide, ensuring compliance with contract specifications on railroad infrastructure projects. The team consists of highly skilled rail professionals, many with prior operating railroad experience, enabling innovative solutions for a wide variety of rail projects.

This position is field-based, with work conducted from a designated field office and requiring travel to various project sites. Preferred candidates should reside in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, or Texas.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily oversight of contractors' work.
• Enforce contractor responsibilities and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
• Accurately measure and validate contractor quantities per contract terms.
• Generate comprehensive daily construction reports to monitor progress.
• Monitor quality assurance documentation for conformity with standards.
• Maintain daily Field Book entries, including tasks, workforce, equipment usage, visual progress updates, and issues encountered.
• Track construction activity advancement to produce detailed work reports for field orders.
• Participate in progress meetings and provide updates as needed.
• Collaborate with Resident Project Managers to resolve technical challenges.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of practical experience as a field inspector on infrastructure projects.
• Concrete structure/bridge inspection experience is a strong plus.
• Eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to new tasks.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness and ability to travel to various project sites across the Midwest U.S. region.

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position is $30–$55 USD per hour, with the final agreed-upon rate based on factors such as education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location. The total annual compensation package includes base salary, overtime, and bonuses.
