About the Role
The Field Engineer provides technical engineering support to project supervisors and craft workforce to ensure all construction complies with appropriate standards, codes, and specifications. The Field Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player with strong communication and client service skills.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment through own actions and mentoring others
- Support/assist in implementation of Operation Zero and all Manhattan safety policies
- Participate in performing survey layout for construction control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials
- Maintain record documents
- Perform material takeoffs for self-perform work
- Research drawing interpretations, problems, and errors
- Verify all completed work complies with drawings and specifications
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of contract specifications and documents
- Verify all survey monuments and markers
- Assist in subcontractor coordination
- Conduct themselves in accordance with our Guiding Principles and exhibit attributes matching the Way We Work
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 2-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent (may substitute education with related experience on a one-to-one basis)
- 3 years of industry experience

Working Conditions
- Adaptable to all types of weather conditions
- Must traverse and inspect all areas of a construction job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching
- Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day
- Ability to repeat the same movements
- Effective communication for meetings, video conferences, and phone calls
- Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence
- Must be able to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time
- Occasional travel may be required, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver’s License)
- Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards
