Field Project Engineer-Data Centers

About the role

The Field Project Engineer-Data Centers and Field Project Engineering Manager positions at Generac are integral to the company's mission of leading technological advances in the power generation industry. These roles involve managing projects related to industrial power generation equipment, from initial design to installation and ongoing support.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of the project scope definition and objectives
• Prepare and manage the overall project schedule
• Track and ensure project deliverables are met on time
• Communicate project updates to various stakeholders
• Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers
• Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments
• Support the Energy solutions sales team by gathering field requirements, creating diagrams, and providing technical support
• Provide technical input and design feedback to engineering teams
• Collaborate with Service, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments to address product issues and suggest design improvements
• Act as a point of contact between Industrial Solutions and Service to engage Field Service Engineers and the dealer network

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in power generation equipment installation and operations
• Willingness to travel domestically 25% to 50% of the time
• Experience and knowledge of project management tools and techniques
• Sound knowledge of power generation products, installations, and applications
• Experience with basic project management tasks such as SOW, Gantt, RASIC, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Project Management Professional or similar professional training
• Experience using SAP or equivalent ERP
• Experience with electronics or electromechanical technology

Skills & Abilities

• Demonstrated knowledge of project management skills, tools, and techniques
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including teamwork, relationship building, and collaboration
• Advanced knowledge of AC and DC circuitry, mechanical design, power generation, wiring diagrams, and schematics
• Knowledge of engine maintenance and troubleshooting of diesel & natural gas engines
• Knowledge of serial communications and connected devices
• Basic understanding of industrial standards: UL, NEC, ASME, IEC, NEMA, NFPA
• Knowledge of generator controls, protective relays, PLCs, & control/automation devices
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to make independent decisions
