Field Coordinator Substation Construction & Maintenance (Earlington)

Responsibilities

  • Perform planning, coordinating, and scheduling of substation construction and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure work activities align with a safe and accident-free workplace.
  • Cook up line requests, switching plans, and outage scheduling.
  • Create, close, and manage work orders in the associated work order management system.
  • Review all work orders for description, content, completeness, and priority.
  • Perform other equipment-related activities in the associated work order management system and ensure all equipment includes corresponding nameplate data, maintenance information/history, and appropriate links to substation location and substation equipment.
  • Assist with annual substation construction and maintenance schedule which includes detailed coordination with external departments.
  • Perform other asset information duties as requested by the Team Leader and/or Manager.
  • Analyze work orders and determine the need for prints, engineering information, special tools, stores materials and/or spare parts, and secure through the origination of purchase requisitions, in accordance with Department procedures.
  • Analyze morning reports, substation inspections, and substation daily summaries for the purpose of creating corrective work orders.
  • Absorb spare parts inventory and ensure critical parts are available for planned and emergency outage repair.
  • Generate shutdown requests and assist with outage coordination.
  • Aid in monitoring the performance and effectiveness of construction and maintenance activities and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Aid work management system administrators to develop, track, and improve maintenance activities.
  • Assist Team Leader in accomplishing training objectives and analyzing needs.
  • Conduct work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
  • Aid in the development of the Substation Construction and Maintenance Department objectives, programs, and procedures.
  • Review Job Briefings and provide coaching, identifying areas for improvement in hazard recognition and mitigation.
  • Aid in the establishment of proper inventory levels, stock, and storage methods.
  • Provide oversight of contractor activities.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED and 5+ years Experience in substation construction and maintenance with full knowledge of relevant equipment and activities.
  • Possession of an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or related field is preferred.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good planning, scheduling, and budgeting skills.
  • Able to establish goals and objectives to support strategic initiatives.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Excellent computer and software skills (Word and Excel) preferred.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to cope and implement change.
  • Substation Technician A/Journeyman certification is preferred.
