Fiber Optic Splice Technician, VT
Centerline is expanding into the Burlington, Vermont area and seeks qualified Fiber Splice Technicians to support growing demand across the Northeast. This role blends independent fieldwork with on-site customer collaboration, focusing on ISP, OSP, and aerial fiber builds. Ideal candidates are technically skilled, customer-focused, and ready to grow with a team known for professionalism and quality.
Responsibilities
- Understand multiple OSP/ISP splice enclosures by various manufacturers.
- Undergo additional training or immersion into specific customers’ needs and demonstrate responsibility for those needs.
- Demonstrate advanced cable prep, single and mass fusion splicing, and termination abilities.
- Perform excellent fiber optic test and troubleshooting, including fiber characterization, iOLM, and advanced documentation and deliverable responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively with others, train junior technicians, and manage basic crew/project responsibilities.
- Navigate ARC/GIS, Telvent, and Trimble software.
- Travel, work nights, weekends, holidays, and handle on-call responsibilities as required by the job.
Requirements
- Experience as a Fiber Optic Splice Technician.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perceive color differences.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new programs.
- Ability to make independent judgments and perform repetitive tasks.
- Regular contact with co-workers and customers.
- Complete and pass OSHA-10 Certification within 90 days of start date.
- Pass and maintain DOT Physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Travel expected; may involve nights and weekends. Overtime should generally be expected.
- Complete entry-level safety training and demonstrate safe practices within 90 days of starting.
- Must be local to the Burlington, VT area or have independent plans to relocate.
Work Environment
- Frequent ability to lift 25 lbs continuously from floor to above head.
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach, and utilize both hands and feet in aerial and underground capacities.
- Exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration, and loud noise.
- Requires sitting for extended periods, standing, bending, walking, and communicating via telephone, computer, or face-to-face contact.
- Regular use of office equipment such as computers, copiers, and fax machines.
- Work is performed in and out of an office environment.
