Fiber Splice Technician

We’re expanding and seeking experienced splicers to support our projects throughout the New Hampshire and New England area. This is a field-based position where you’ll report directly from your home to assigned job sites — no office check-ins required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fiber splicing, testing, and termination on a variety of networks and enclosures
  • Review splice drawings, work orders, and schematics for accuracy
  • Operate OTDRs, iOLM, fusion splicers, ribbon splicers, and power meters
  • Accurately complete project documentation, test records, and deliverables
  • Support jobsite crews, providing guidance and mentorship when needed
  • Work directly with customers and project managers to meet expectations and deadlines

Requirements

  • Prior hands-on experience as a Fiber Splicing Technician
  • Strong understanding of single and mass fusion splicing, cable prep, and termination
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot fiber issues, including characterization and advanced testing
  • Familiar with multiple OSP/ISP splice enclosures and common industry equipment
  • Comfortable with basic computer functions and eager to learn new software (ARC/GIS, Telvent, Trimble a plus)
  • Must be able to differentiate colors for accurate splicing
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing (CDL preferred but not required)
  • Must pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check
  • OSHA-10 certification (or ability to complete within 90 days, provided by company)
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as projects require
  • Local to New Hampshire, or planning to relocate to the area
  • High school graduate or equivalent required

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity
  • Drive and operate a vehicle, and/or bucket
  • Environmental conditions: exposure to heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise
  • Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head, 80 lbs continuously
  • Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact
  • Vision to monitor and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier, and fax machines regularly during the course of work
