Position Overview

The Fiber Cutting Machine Operator plays a key role in Sea Ray's boat-building process by preparing high-quality fiberglass materials used in the lamination and assembly of premium watercraft. This position is responsible for safely operating fiber-cutting equipment, maintaining material accuracy, and ensuring production schedules are met with precision and efficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Operate automatic and semi-automatic fiber cutting machinery according to established procedures and production schedules.
  • Measure, prepare, and cut fiberglass materials to specified dimensions with accuracy.
  • Read and interpret material cut sheets, production orders, and specifications.
  • Inspect materials for defects, inconsistencies, or deviations, ensuring only quality-approved material moves into production.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with 5S and safety standards.
  • Perform routine machine checks, basic preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot operational issues when necessary.
  • Cookordination with Lamination and Fabrication teams to ensure timely delivery of cut materials.
  • Record production data, material usage, and equipment logs accurately.
  • Follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and adhere to Sea Ray’s safety, quality, and environmental guidelines.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to patterns and measurements.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, lift/move materials and work in non-climate-controlled environments.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in sewing or upholstery, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating industrial cutting machines and handling various fabrics, including vinyl and carpet.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to sewing and upholstery processes.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move materials, and handle repetitive tasks.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.50 to $23.18, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
