Responsibilities

Training Facilitation duties comprise 60% of the role and include:

  • Establishes prevention activities at the command and unit level, including determining goals, objectives, measures of performance, effectiveness assessments, and milestones.
  • Works with command leadership and Command Resilience Teams (CRTs) to identify existing or potential risk factors that can lead to problematic/destructive behaviors and recommends preventive measures.
  • May assist command leadership in participating in prevention-based research.
  • Reviews and coordinates relevant primary prevention actions and projects across programs, ensuring completion dates are met within established timeframes.
  • Develops population-based and/or targeted prevention efforts to support the unique needs of the installation, command, and/or unit level.
  • Executes core functions of an optimized prevention system, such as engagement, implementation, evaluation, and integration.
  • Serves as a non-clinical trainer/educator, collaborating with the Deployment Resiliency Counselor (DRC) and command leadership to assess training needs and deliver educational programs.
  • Facilitates prevention classes focused on building resiliency, enhancing adaptation to military life challenges, and reducing unplanned losses.
  • Provides Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) training, including WFL, CAP, NGS, and SAPR training based on command needs.
  • Delivers routine presentations to leadership on command prevention efforts and impact.
  • Provides ongoing primary prevention training and education to build and sustain prevention capacity and capability.
  • Deploys to deliver Departure and Separation and Return & Reunion workshops.
  • Supports homeport FFSC general and crisis response programs, including emergency preparedness and mass care, when not deployed.
  • Assists the DRC and command in coordinating special project activities related to CAP, SAPR, and WFL programs, including command-directed themes and resiliency projects.
  • Refers Sailors for counseling and/or other services to the DRC or homeport FFSC.
  • Coordinates with the DRC in planning scheduled workshops, programs, command briefs, and general military trainings (GMTs) presented on the ship and at other locations.
  • Provides presentation skill-building and train-the-trainer trainings to service members who may facilitate training.
  • Maintains copies of all approved instructor guides and requests and maintains accurate files on all program evaluations.

Program Evaluation duties comprise 40% of the role and include:

  • Advises leadership on data-informed actions, prevention methodologies, assessment, and prevention training.
  • Operationalizes all applicable policies and synchronizes prevention requirements where possible.
  • Provides consultative advice and works closely with command prevention and resilience personnel to leverage insights, interpret protective and risk data, and implement primary prevention policies, programs, processes, and practices.
  • Coordinates with key stakeholders on issues related to integrated prevention methodologies and practices.
  • Identifies efficiencies in the development and delivery of primary prevention, ensuring occupational health, social and organizational psychology, public health, and other behavioral and social science perspectives are considered in prevention planning.
  • Complies with Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DON), and Service (US Navy, US Marine Corps) policies and local directives.
  • Collects and consolidates data from diverse sources to write reports, including correspondence, point papers, briefs, and other presentation mediums.
  • Monitors and responds to reports regarding planning and strategies.
  • Assists in appropriate program evaluation and measurement techniques.
  • Maintains program and administrative reference materials, project files, available policies, procedures, and written instructions from the supervisor.
  • Submits all data and data collection forms into the Fleet and Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conducts thorough reviews of Standards of Procedures (SOPs) and service delivery to ensure adherence to established policy, confidentiality, and quality assurance.
  • Ensures training programs comply with FFSP Certification Standards.
