Join us in bringing our passion for education and student success to life through thoughtful execution, partnership, and a strong commitment to the people we serve. This is a variable-hour, non-exempt position reporting to the IT Manager, based in San Diego, CA.
Responsibilities
- Act as a CIAT student ambassador by participating in virtual events such as new student orientation, certification workshops, and career services workshops.
- Assist with student assignment, lab, and certification support by:
- Hosting individual and small group live, virtual support sessions.
- Testing and contributing to lab documentation.
- Providing virtual support for students needing assistance with PC Build Kit labs, networking labs, Amazon and Azure labs, and coding labs (assignments vary based on coursework and certifications earned).
- Assist with CIAT website development initiatives, including:
- Website UI/UX, browser, device compatibility, and navigation testing.
- Student portal and pilot project testing.
- Support Career Services tasks, such as:
- Reviewing Handshake employer profiles to ensure they meet department guidelines.
- Evaluating job postings and industry trends.
- Adhere to regulations set forth by governing agencies and institutional policies.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled at California Institute of Applied Technology and eligible for Federal Work Study.
- In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (3.0+ preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Independent problem-solver with demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and interact with students, colleagues, and others.
- Sincere interest in helping others achieve life goals.
- Customer-service-oriented approach to collaborate with internal departments.

Schedule
- Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and evening hours required.
- This position must not exceed 20 hours per week.
Pay
$26 USD per hour.
Physical Demands
- Essential functions of this role require sitting for extended periods of time.
- Ability to type, use a computer to search for and input information while speaking on the phone is required.
- Frequent use of computer, mouse, and telephone to conduct regular tasks.
- Ability to perform simple to simple mathematical calculations as part of the role.
Work Environment
This is a remote position. While performing the responsibilities of this role, you will work in a home office environment. Employees are expected to ensure their home office is a safe and ergonomic working environment, maintain data security and confidentiality, and use secure connections for all work-related activities.
