About the role
GBA Builders is seeking an experienced Federal Superintendent to lead large-scale and complex Federal construction projects from groundbreaking through close-out. This role requires strong leadership, strategic direction, and the ability to resolve high-level issues while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction to field operations on assigned projects
- Oversee and coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications
- Manage site logistics, subcontractor performance, inspections, and construction sequencing
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Owners, Architects, and Engineers to ensure clear communication and alignment on goals
- Conduct weekly foremen meetings and lead pre-installation and critical path planning sessions
- Develop, manage, and distribute detailed 3-week look-ahead schedules in coordination with the master project schedule
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes and documentation
- Lead project close-out efforts, including punch list completion, turnover documentation, and warranty planning
- Mentor, coach, and evaluate field staff, promoting career development and performance excellence
- Serve as a senior resource in resolving complex field issues and adapting to changing site conditions
- Travel to and from job sites as needed to support field operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field AND 15+ years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in the construction of Federal projects is strongly preferred
- Partnership approach to working with contractors, designers and clients
- MS Office Suite knowledge and excellent computer skills
- Proficiency in MS Project
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead a team
- Self-motivation with good time management skills
- OSHA-30 certification required
Qualifications
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and stairs
- Exposure to all outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, precipitation, and wind
- Use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Exposure to confined spaces as part of job site conditions
- Exposure to high noise levels typical of job sites
- Full-time U.S. travel with home trips every month
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
