Federal Student Worker - Student Recruitment & Outreach
About the role
ECC Elgin Community College serves over 9,000 students across various educational levels, including university transfer programs, career and technical education, continuing education classes, and adult basic education. As a community, we prioritize creating a welcoming campus where everyone feels valued. This position supports the Recruitment and Outreach Services area within the Admissions and Recruitment office.
Responsibilities
- Aid in event promotion and staffing
- Give campus tours
- Answer phones and make calls
- Provide general office support
- Perform reception desk coverage
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Completed at least one semester of classes at ECC (at least 6 semester hours)
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Proficient with technology, including typing, MS Office, and basic computer functions
Desired Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and technology
- Familiarity with ECC’s campus and the enrollment process, or ability to learn these skills quickly
Physical Demands
Sedentary (up to 10 lbs occasionally, sitting most of the time)
Visual Acuity: Close visual acuity (e.g., computer, assembly)
Work Environment
Moderate noise
Environmental Conditions: Typical office or administrative
Pay
$15.00 per hour
Schedule
Spring, Summer, and Fall hours available. Students must be available on Wednesdays from 3-6 pm for campus tours. Available work from 8 am to 7 pm from Monday to Thursday and 8 am - 4 pm on Fridays, except during summer hours.
