About the role

Senior consultants at Guidehouse help federal clients transform their grants management processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. They guide clients through complex grants transformation efforts, applying best practices in grants management, process improvement, change management, and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with federal health clients to establish or enhance grants management processes and procedures across the entire grants lifecycle.
  • Guide clients through complex grants transformation efforts using approaches grounded in best practices for federal grants management, process improvement/optimization, change management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Plan and facilitate large and small group meetings and working sessions, including for executive level clients to gather requirements, identify pain points, develop strategies, present recommendations, and obtain buy-in.
  • Apply critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills to collect quantitative and qualitative data (e.g., interviews, focus groups, questionnaires, listening sessions, document/dataset reviews).
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data and develop meaningful insights to address complex grants management challenges and support client decision-making.
  • Lead the end-to-end development of client work products, such as root cause and gap analysis, findings and recommendation reports, requirements documents, Visio process flows, standard operating procedures, strategic plans, strategic communications, and reporting dashboards.
  • Effectively and concisely communicate and present information to clients, leadership, and various stakeholder groups.
  • Deliver high-quality client service in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment.
  • Build and sustain meaningful relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to team members.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture and collaborative working environment.
  • Understand and use firm capabilities, solutions, and methodologies.
  • Support internal and business development initiatives, such as communities of practice and proposals.

Requirements

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "NACI"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their NACI prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three (3) years or more of relevant professional experience including two (2) years of grants management experience at a federal agency, state, city, or county government, or consulting firm.
  • Experience in grants strategy, transformation, process improvement, technical assistance, recipient engagement, and/or evaluation.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

What would be nice to have

  • Master’s Degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, MPP, MHA, MPA, MSOD)
  • Change management, facilitation, process improvement, or project management certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, CAPM, PMP, or CCMP)
  • Experience supporting federal health organizations (i.e., CDC)
  • Two (2) years of experience leading projects or large workstreams, including overseeing a team of 2+ staff and managing project timelines
  • Experience performing data analysis and using findings to recommend and implement improvements
  • Experience developing new and re-designing existing processes to meet new and/or evolving business requirements
  • Ability to think strategically while delivering tactically, with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to investigate, make sense of, and break down complex client challenges into clear, digestible approaches and solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels in an organization; ability to develop visually appealing and impactful communication materials
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and contribute as a team member, understanding personal and team roles, contributing to a positive working environment by building relationships with team members, and proactively seeking guidance, clarification, and feedback
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and address client needs, build client relationships, and develop requests for information, as well as flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks and communicating potential conflicts to a supervisor
  • Experience prioritizing and handling multiple tasks, researching and analyzing pertinent client, industry and technical matters, and utilizing problem-solving skills to achieve desired outcomes
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
