FDOT Project Surveyor

This role involves independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard surveying techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. You will plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of surveying work in part of a major project or a total project of moderate scope, performing work that involves conventional surveying practice but may include a variety of complex features.
You will direct conversations with clients at the beginning, during, and end of projects, and may supervise or coordinate the work of surveyors, technicians, and others assisting in specific assignments. Additional responsibilities include sealing professional surveying documents and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard surveying techniques, procedures, and criteria, making minor adaptations and modifications as needed.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of surveying work in part of a major project or a total project of moderate scope.
- Perform surveying work involving conventional practices but may include complex features.
- Direct client communications throughout the lifecycle of projects.
- Supervise or coordinate the work of surveyors, technicians, and other assistants.
- Seal professional surveying documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) Licensure.
- 8 years of experience in Land Surveying.
- FDOT experience is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
- Prior experience with roadway projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, clients, and others.
