About the role

Burgess Civil, LLC is seeking a Project Manager for immediate employment in the Tampa Bay Area to oversee active construction projects for our governmental customers. We have recently been awarded a Low Bid Design Build with FDOT and are seeking a Project Manager to oversee the design build process and subsequent construction of this project. Along with future design-build pursuits. This crucial role requires a candidate with a background in infrastructure and civil construction, specifically highway and road construction with previous FDOT experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project costs to ensure compliance with the original project budget and design-build process.
  • Oversee processes for RFIs, submittals, pay applications and claims.
  • Responsible for all financial controls on FDOT projects including monthly invoicing and WIP projections.
  • Assist the Project Superintendent with scheduling, quality control, and overall project logistics.
  • Maintain project progress, including material procurement and change order management.
  • Ensure Subcontractor compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Support daily construction activities to maintain adherence to contract documents.
  • Facilitate regular communication with all project stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely resolution of concerns.
  • Address and resolve conflicts within the team or with subcontractors to prevent project delays.
  • Issue subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders and pay applications.
  • Attend all required weekly progress meetings with government clients.
  • Provide weekly schedule updates internally for operations and externally for clients.

Requirements

  • Experience managing projects with FDOT is a must.
  • Primavera P6 Scheduling experience is required.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in civil construction, capable of managing multiple projects, especially in highway and road construction.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to effectively manage resources and meet strict deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly and persuasively.

Preferred

  • A degree in Construction or Engineering.
  • Experience with HCSS HeavyBid & HeavyJob.
  • At least three years of project management experience.
