Roadway Design Project Manager

Primary Responsibilities

  • Providing professional engineering design services for transportation improvements projects
  • Overseeing design development and production of construction details, plans, specifications, and estimates including detailed engineering calculations
  • Collaborating with clients, sub-consultant partners, technical staff, and managers across multiple disciplines to develop quality deliverables within schedule and budgetary requirements
  • Directing and mentoring design support staff
  • Conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks including collection and analysis of data
  • Performing routine calculations and participating in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 5 - 10 years of transportation roadway design experience
  • NCDOT roadway design experience (preferred)
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK. OpenRoads experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of AASHTO and State DOT design standards
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment

Qualifications

  • Experience in a variety of transportation-related projects including new location, widening, bicycle & pedestrian, highway safety, intersection, interchange, and design-build projects
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

Skills

  • Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK
  • OpenRoads experience
  • AASHTO and State DOT design standards
