Primary Responsibilities
- Providing professional engineering design services for transportation improvements projects
- Overseeing design development and production of construction details, plans, specifications, and estimates including detailed engineering calculations
- Collaborating with clients, sub-consultant partners, technical staff, and managers across multiple disciplines to develop quality deliverables within schedule and budgetary requirements
- Directing and mentoring design support staff
- Conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks including collection and analysis of data
- Performing routine calculations and participating in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering
- North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 5 - 10 years of transportation roadway design experience
- NCDOT roadway design experience (preferred)
- Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK. OpenRoads experience is a plus
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of AASHTO and State DOT design standards
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
- Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment
Qualifications
- Experience in a variety of transportation-related projects including new location, widening, bicycle & pedestrian, highway safety, intersection, interchange, and design-build projects
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
Skills
- Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK
- OpenRoads experience
- AASHTO and State DOT design standards
