Farm Service Opr GO01, 1st Shift, Snead Grow Out

This position involves traveling to live production farms to assist Breeder/Broiler Service Techs and Contract Pullet Crews with weighing, blood-pulling, sampling, placement, and vaccination of pullets and chicks. Work must adhere to all Animal Welfare Guidelines and Tyson Foods’ policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate weighing equipment, including lifting and moving birds (under 50 lbs) into pens on a predetermined schedule.
• Bend, lift, and position birds on electronic scales to record weights and uniformity numbers accurately.
• Pull blood samples (up to 30 birds per house) throughout each flock’s life cycle, label samples clearly, and prepare them for laboratory testing.
• Assist in chick placement by loading chick boxes onto flatbed trailers and carefully placing chicks into pullet houses; assess chick quality.
• Use basic math skills to count birds, calculate vaccine/medication needs, and determine supply quantities.
• Set up pullet houses for vaccination or moving by transporting coolers, netting, pens, and other equipment (under 50 lbs).
• Spray vaccination on newly placed chicks using a backpack pump-up sprayer.
• Assist contract pullet crews in vaccination or moving of pullets, including driving and pulling trailers with supplies/equipment to farms.
• Perform basic repairs to maintain vaccinating and scaling equipment.
• Work with minimal supervision in extreme weather conditions, dusty environments, and areas with unpleasant odors, blood, fat, bones, or chick down.
• Wear required PPE: biosecurity suit (disposable coveralls, hairnet, impervious rubber gloves, disposable shoe covers), safety vest, safety goggles, slip-resistant shoes, and voluntary dust mask.
• Follow all written Animal Welfare, Biosecurity, and Environmental Guidelines for handling birds, blood samples, and blood serum.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements

• Valid Alabama Driver License with a good driving record to operate a company vehicle.
• Minimum six (6) months of machine operator experience (can be combined from multiple employers).
• Minimum six (6) months of continuous work experience with one employer within the last 24 months.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, including bending, lifting, and moving birds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Schedule

1st shift, with flexibility required for afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
