Family Services Supervisor II - Family Services Support Team

About the role

We’re seeking a visionary leader to guide a unit dedicated to providing comprehensive, strengths-based, and solution-focused support for pregnant and parenting women with substance use disorders, their children, and their support networks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a program that empowers families and transforms lives.
• Engage stakeholders and community partners to develop cross-system partnerships.
• Monitor and evaluate program performance.
• Complete administrative statistical reports, compile team data, and comply with grant requirements.
• Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with community providers.
• Provide outreach, education, and training to community partners who serve customers.
• Provide trauma-focused, reflective supervision to foster growth, resilience, and excellence in case management.
• Assess training needs and coordinate development opportunities to improve case management quality.
• Review and assign cases and referrals; consult with colleagues on service delivery.
• Review staff documentation, including case contacts, court reports, and service plans.
• Attend various meetings, including committee, workgroup, agency-wide, and leadership meetings.
• Advocate and problem-solve barriers and unmet community needs.
• Complete developmental and administrative tasks such as participating in training, interviewing, and onboarding new staff.

Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field.
• Or a bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area.
• Considerable experience in assigned program area/human services programs and completion of required training programs.
• Supervisory experience or work experience in a leadership role.
• Or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications

• Possession of a BSW or MSW degree.
• Commonwealth of Virginia Certified Substance Abuse Counselor certification.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor are desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations relating to direct service programs, including substance use disorders and kinship caregiver programs.
• Knowledge and understanding of Child Welfare practices in child protective services, permanency, and foster care.
• Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and etiology, family and group dynamics, including extensive knowledge of a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities.
• Ability to access community resources such as housing, mental health and substance use disorder services, employment, medical care, and other benefits.
• Ability to develop and implement new programs and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Excellent organizational, time management, oral/written communication, interpersonal, public relations, and supervisory skills.
• Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making skills during crisis situations.
• Computer competency required; proficiency in OASIS and Safe Measures preferred.
• Experience with managing and reporting grant funding.
• Exceptional ability to collaborate and achieve performance goals.
• Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.

Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required. A Chesterfield County application is also required and must be submitted online by the deadline.

This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug testing and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.

This position is part of an Emergency Shelter Management Team during times of natural disaster, reporting to shelter duty and supervising as required.
