About the role
The Family Resource Specialist supports children and families enrolled in UW Oshkosh Head Start by building strong relationships, identifying family strengths and goals, and connecting families with resources that promote well-being and school readiness.
Responsibilities
- Helps families access services such as health care, education, counseling, crisis assistance, and employment resources.
- Provides guidance on health, nutrition, and safety and supports families in meeting medical and dental requirements.
- Works closely with staff and community partners to expand access to services and supports continuous improvement efforts to meet Head Start standards and strengthen outcomes for children and families.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field.
- One year experience working with young children and their families.
- Valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge of UW Oshkosh Head Start, Family Service Credential or general Head Start experience.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural issues and local community practices.
- Skills and knowledge to access appropriate community resources.
- Experience using the Child Plus data system.
Skills
- Access appropriate community resources.
- Provide guidance and feedback to staff working with families on health services and on eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance requirements.
- Refer families to services and resources, including emergency/crisis assistance, accessing on-going health care, education, counseling, and employment training, and services.
- Follow up with families to ensure appropriate intervention and delivery of services.

Pay
Base Salary Range: $40,879 - $44,756
Prorated Salary of $34,584 - $37,863 for 44 weeks of work each year from first week in August to the second week in June.
Schedule
Work approximately 44 weeks per year, following a school-year schedule.
