About the role
The Vermont Interdisciplinary Team (I-Team) champions school inclusion for Vermont students with complex disabilities. We are seeking a Family Resource Consultant to provide training and support to families of students with complex learning styles and complex support needs.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate strong relationships with families of students with complex disabilities.
- Support families in navigating the special education process and person-centered planning.
- Help families access local, statewide, and national resources for family support.
- Work with school teams to understand and implement best practices in inclusive education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field and two to four years of related experience required.
- Solid knowledge of disabilities, their etiology, course, and the related impacts to an individual required.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or navigating systems related to disability services and family advocacy.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills required.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to inclusive education in the state of Vermont required.
Qualifications
- Lived expertise of navigating systems and resources as a parent (or caregiver) of a child with disabilities is desirable.
