About the role
The Family Programming Associate under the direction of the Family Programming Director is responsible for caring for children aged six months through twelve years. The role ensures a safe, clean, and engaging environment for children, adhering to departmental guidelines and standards.
Responsibilities
- Care for children ages six months through twelve years
- Ensure a safe, clean environment including sanitizing toys and play areas, checking and changing diapers, picking up toys, wiping down tables and counters
- Supervise the entire childcare space ensuring every zone with a child is staffed
- Complete all items on the opening and closing operations checklists
- Greet parents and children with a smile; invite children to join activities
- Ensure interaction with children at all times; focus on older, shy, and/or bored children; comfort and assist crying children
- Organize and implement age-appropriate activities such as craft time and story time
- Treat children with responsive respectfulness, coaching rather than scolding; discuss behavior tactfully and out of range of child's hearing
- Be present on the floor and offer assistance as necessary
- Communicate timely and follow up as appropriate
Requirements
- Minimum one (1) year of experience caring for children in daycare or babysitting environment
- Professional, friendly manner and excellent customer service attitude and abilities
- Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills
- Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player
- Self-motivated, takes initiative and willing to acquire new skills
- Well organized and detail oriented
- Computer literate
- CPR certification required
Qualifications
- Ability to arrive at work on time for all scheduled work shifts required
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays required
- Flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment
- Daily public contact required
- Frequent moving of 10 pounds and occasional lifting and moving up to 50 pounds required
- Specific vision abilities required
