Valor Healthcare is looking for a passionate Primary Care Physician to join their team at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Cookeville, TN.
About the Role
Valor Healthcare is a contractor for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, operating more than 50 VA CBOCs across the United States. The mission is to provide quality healthcare to America's veterans through a healing focus, indebted hearts, and tireless resolve.
Core Responsibilities
- Actively diagnoses and treats veterans, examining them for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders and performing comprehensive physical examinations.
- Develops and implements patient management plans and assists in the provision of continuity of care.
- Orders and performs diagnostic tests, prescribes medication, and recommends dietary and activity programs as indicated by diagnosis.
- Counsels patients on the use of prescription medications, educates them, assesses mental health issues, and provides routine health maintenance.
- Evaluates patients' records from medical providers outside the VA and works with these patients using VA rules for co-managed care.
- Completes any and all clinical reminders due at the time of each patient visit, documenting the medical record within 24 hours of a patient encounter.
- Solicits medical management consults or input when appropriate, complying with VA guidelines for appropriate and timely responses to patient requests, alerts, and notifications.
- Complies with VA formulary processes and consult protocols, serving as a collaborative physician to mid-levels where appropriate and needed.
- Participates in clinic outreach events to support enrollment initiatives and provides guidance on scheduling, follow-up visits, or nurse visits.
- Supports patient enrollment and retention by executing on strategic initiatives that drive the success of the Valor business.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of clinical medical practice, preferably in a government healthcare environment.
- Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree.
- Board certified in family practice or internal medicine.
- Credentialing and maintaining a valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment, or in any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (renewed periodically) and ACLS as specified by individual VAMC contract.
- Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and excellent computer skills.
- Energetic and optimistic demeanor, strong service mentality, and a focus on achieving all aspects of defined service standards.
