About the role

We are seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join a busy and growing family law practice in Dover, NH. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of family law experience and be licensed in New Hampshire and Maine, or licensed in one state with the ability to obtain admission in the other quickly. This role is best suited for an attorney who can manage matters independently, work directly with clients, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice. The firm is especially interested in attorneys who have strong client relationships, referral sources, or an interest in business development.

Responsibilities

• Handle a variety of family law matters, including divorce, custody, child support, parenting plans, alimony, and related domestic relations matters.
• Manage cases from intake through resolution, including discovery, negotiation, hearings, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Counsel clients through sensitive and high-stakes family law matters with professionalism and care.
• Draft pleadings, motions, agreements, financial affidavits, settlement documents, and other legal filings.
• Represent clients in court hearings, conferences, mediations, and settlement discussions.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
• Maintain strong client communication and case management practices.
• Support business development efforts through referral relationships, community involvement, or practice growth initiatives.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• 5+ years of family law experience.
• Active license in New Hampshire and Maine preferred. Candidates licensed in one state who can obtain admission in the other quickly may also be considered.
• Experience handling family law matters independently.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, client counseling, and courtroom skills.
• Ability to manage an active caseload in a fully onsite environment.
• Interest in business development, referral relationships, or bringing portable business is strongly preferred.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical judgment.

Pay

$115,000 - $150,000 per year (base salary $115k - $140k/year + bonus)

Onsite in Dover, NH (Portland, ME office available as needed)
