Family Engagement Specialist
About the role
We are seeking a Family Engagement Specialist to join our team at Easterseals Vermont. Our work involves facilitating family meetings and providing in-home support to strengthen families in DCF custody. The position requires coaching parents to create safe and nurturing environments for their children and supporting them in addressing immediate child needs. Additionally, you will engage with extended family members to explore familial support systems and develop genograms.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate family meetings and provide in-home support to strengthen families in DCF custody.
- Coach parents to create safe and nurturing environments for their children.
- Support parents in meeting the immediate needs of their children in the moment.
- Call extended family members to explore familial support and create genograms.
- Work closely with the Department of Children and Families - Family Services Division while maintaining our own office space.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
- Two years of human services experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check.
- Your own reliable vehicle with insurance that meets our coverage limits.
Qualifications
- Understanding of complex issues facing families such as past trauma, substance use disorders, domestic violence, mental health issues, and generational poverty.
- Extensive training and supervision provided.

Pay
$20 hourly starting salary, with additional compensation based on experience and degree ($20.50 for Associate’s degree; $21.00 for Bachelor’s degree; $22.50 for Master’s degree).
Schedule
Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. We are flexible to support parents' individual schedules and prioritize a healthy work/life balance.
