Family Engagement Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Family Engagement Specialist to join our team at Easterseals Vermont. The ideal candidate understands the complex issues facing families and is committed to making a difference through meaningful, mission-driven work.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating family meetings and providing in-home support to strengthen families in their homes.
• Coaching parents to have safe and nurturing time with their children who are placed in DCF custody.
• Supporting parents to meet the needs of their children in the moment.
• Calling extended family members to explore familial support and create genograms.
• Working closely with Department of Children and Families - Family Services Division while maintaining our own separate offices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
• Two years of human services experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check.
• Your own reliable vehicle with insurance that meets our coverage limits.

Qualifications

• Extensive training and supervision are provided.

Skills

• Understanding of complex issues facing families including past trauma, substance use disorders, domestic violence, mental health issues, and generational poverty.

Pay

Starting $20 hourly. Additional compensation is based upon experience and degree ($20.50 for Associate’s degree; $21.00 for Bachelor’s degree; $22.50 for Master’s degree).

Schedule

Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. We are hoping for flexibility to support parents’ individual schedules. We support a healthy work/life balance in this job.
