About the role

This position supports Title I schools within the Harrisburg School District by coordinating communication and activities among teachers, parents, community members, and school administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the school to disseminate information about current events and engagement opportunities to families.
  • Collaborates with other district feeder schools and the Family Engagement Specialist to assist families with transitions to kindergarten, middle school, and high school.
  • Provides families with information and resources related to professional development and parent classes.
  • Schedules and conducts monthly parent workshops based on survey results.
  • Develops and implements the school and LEA Parent and Family Engagement Policy.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information and attends monthly professional development meetings.
  • Works with the building Principal and Federal Programs Office to establish a Parent Advisory Board and review the Parent and Family Engagement Policy.
  • Serves as a liaison between the District and Pre-K families, and between schools and community resources.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related field
  • Associates Degree in a related field preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
  • The ability to lift up to twenty pounds without assistance, stand, sit, walk, grasp, bend, and reach repeatedly throughout the workday
  • A satisfactory work record with dependability, attendance, cooperation, attitude, and related duties as assigned by the Principal and Federal Programs Administrator

  • Must be able to perform essential functions including lifting, standing, sitting, walking, grasping, bending, and reaching.
