About the role

The Graduate School of Education, Rutgers University invites applications for Lecturers (formerly Part Time Lecturers) in the department of Educational Theory, Policy and Administration during the Fall 2026 Semester, September 1, 2026 through December 22, 2026. Successful applicants will instruct undergraduate or graduate level courses in social and philosophical foundations of education, educational policy, social studies education, and/or educational leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct undergraduate or graduate level courses in social and philosophical foundations of education, educational policy, social studies education, and/or educational leadership.
  • Courses will be offered in a range of modalities beyond traditional settings, including hybrid and online formats as well as synchronous and asynchronous instruction.

Requirements

Specific courses might include history of education; philosophy of education; gender in education; race, ethnicity and inequality; urban education; sociology of education; public school finance; policy analysis; school leadership; and queer issues in schools, among others.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent terminal degree in an appropriate field.
  • Experience teaching at the college or university level.
  • Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and student learning.
  • Ability to teach in a variety of modalities, including hybrid and online formats.

Skills

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of current educational theories and practices.
