TSMC Arizona’s first fab will operate its leading-edge semiconductor process technology (N4 process), starting production in the first half of 2025. The second fab will utilize leading-edge N3 and N2 process technology and be operational in 2028. The recently announced third fab will manufacture chips using 2nm or even more advanced process technology, with production starting by the end of the decade. About the role

TSMC Arizona is looking for ambitious engineers to join our advanced technology fab in Phoenix, Arizona. Our roles are designed to fast-track your technical expertise and leadership potential in the semiconductor industry. Positions include:

  • Process Integration Engineer (PID): Analyze Inline and EOL (End-of-Line) electrical data to determine root causes of issues, collaborating with Integration, Yield Excellence Department (YED), and Process/Equipment engineers.
  • Yield Excellence Engineer (YED): Develop defect inspection methodologies to deduce root causes of critical issues, innovate techniques to combat defects on the production line, and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Process Engineer (PE): Deliver robust and efficient semiconductor manufacturing through data-driven analytics and systematic problem-solving. Optimize processes using experimental design, precision control, and statistical methods. Collaborate with suppliers to address technology gaps and drive continuous improvement in stability, quality, yield, productivity, and safety.
  • Equipment Engineer (EE): Improve and maintain tool performance in a cleanroom environment to ensure quality production. Key duties include troubleshooting alarms, installing and qualifying new tools, resolving critical equipment issues, improving tool uptime, enhancing hardware capabilities, implementing failure prevention systems, and managing vendor relationships.
  • Intelligent Manufacturing Engineer (MFG): Drive productivity and efficiency through advanced technologies such as Smart Scheduling and Precise Dispatching. Responsibilities include system optimization, productivity improvement initiatives, and quality defense enhancements to support daily operations.
  • Intelligent AMHS & Robotics Automation Engineer (AMHS): Manage the physical and digital neural network of the fab, ensuring autonomous and flawless navigation of silicon wafers. Supervise and collaborate with vendors to install and sustain the AMHS system for TSMC’s ramp-up factories.
  • Additional engineering roles in Facilities and Construction.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related fields.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively across cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
  • A hands-on contributor who takes personal ownership and accountability over assigned process modules.
  • An excellent team player with emerging leadership qualities, comfortable multitasking and thriving in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
  • Highly adaptable with the ability to quickly master and assimilate new technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a dedication to identifying, owning, and resolving complex root-cause issues.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment for prolonged periods.
  • Some roles may require lifting, bending, standing, or extended walking during site inspections and project walkthroughs.
  • Some roles require the ability to move, transport, or position objects weighing up to 50 pounds in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Some roles require working in a cleanroom environment, including gowning in coveralls, hoods, boots, safety glasses, and gloves, and spending significant time on the factory floor working on tools.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • All positions may require access to export-controlled technical data. Non-U.S. Persons may require an export license. U.S. Persons include United States citizens, lawful permanent residents, and persons admitted to the United States as a refugee or asylee.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to work on-site at our Phoenix, Arizona facility.

Travel may be required dependent on business needs. Relocation assistance is available.
