The Department of Physiology and the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the tenure track.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.
  • Significant postdoctoral training or similar experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching responsibilities may include graduate and medical student instruction and training graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Research or scholarship responsibilities include developing a successful, extramurally supported research program.

Research areas

We seek investigators with demonstrated excellence in research grounded in fundamental mechanistic investigation that leverages molecular, biophysical, cellular and/or organismal insights to inform physiological or pathological processes in the cardiovascular system, particularly those emphasizing emerging areas, novel technologies, and interdisciplinary areas.

Areas of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Mitochondrial biology
  • Cardiovascular metabolism
  • Mechanotransduction
  • Calcium signaling
  • Vascular biology
  • Cardiovascular-related interorgan communication
  • Gene regulation

Research excellence will be weighed more strongly than specific research interests.
