Faculty Position - Early Childhood Education and PK3 Credential Program

About the role

The Early Childhood Education program seeks an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Education who teaches courses in the PK3 Teaching Credential Program and the ECE BA program. This is a tenure-track faculty position slated to begin on August 15, 2026.

Essential Functions

• Teach a full load of courses in the PK3 and ECE programs as assigned by the Chair.
• Work under the guidance of the ECE Chair to assure the quality and sustainability of the PK3 Teaching Credential Program.
• Represent the ECE program in the community and in building partnerships with schools and community colleges.
• Participate in revisions of ECE and PK3 curriculum, as needed, and engage in communication and collaboration with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
• Collaborate with the Chair and the ECE/PK3 Program Coordinator to assure the academic progress of students in the programs.
• Participate fully in the faculty work of the School of Education, including School of Education Team Meetings, the Teacher Education Advisory Council, the PreK-3 Education Advisory Council, and service on a University Committee and in other areas as requested by the Dean of the School of Education and the ECE Chair.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree required in early childhood education or related field, doctorate preferred.
• Experience in teaching adult learners, specifically in early childhood education.
• Experience teaching with the modalities of online education.
• Deep personal faith in Christ with theological commitments consistent with those of Vanguard University.
• Rich experience with integrating Christian faith with learning and life.
• A Christian educational philosophy consistent with the ethos of Vanguard University.

Skills

• Organizational management.
• Good communication skills and ability to promote the program within the University and to the early childhood education community.
• Evidence of "goal-oriented" performance.

Salary

Full-time position. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Highly qualified candidates may be considered for an appointment to an endowed professorship with additional compensation.
