About the role

The Department of Business and Management invites applications for a tenure-track or professional position in business and management at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, effective January 2026.

Areas of specialization are open; however, preference will be given to candidates with the background to teach a variety of general topics across the disciplines of business and management, ranging from Introduction to Business to upper-division courses in Business Law, Negotiation and Conflict Management, Human Resources and Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Social Entrepreneurship.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate coursework in a wide range of business and management courses.
  • Transfer knowledge including theory, practical skills, methods and techniques in his/her related field.
  • Challenge thinking, foster debate and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and thinking.
  • Participate in general faculty roles in areas including advising and committee service.
  • Participate in the building of an innovative Christian university.
  • Exercise academic leadership in the design and development of curricula.
  • Collaborate with department faculty in curriculum implementation, student support, and continuous program improvement.
  • Aid in the development of new initiatives and delivery systems.
  • Aid in facilitating continuing accreditation through participation in professional development opportunities and in the preparation of program review documents and assessment processes.
  • Aid in building relationships with Orange County businesses and employers; assist with continuous strengthening of program links to and service to the community.
  • Participate in mentoring students by advising, responding to questions appropriate for student/faculty interactions, and meeting with students as needed or requested.

Qualifications

  • Candidates with a PhD/DBA/JD are preferred.
  • Qualified individuals with an MBA plus a combination of extensive teaching and business experience will be considered.
  • Relevant industry certifications would be an added advantage.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in business and management, ranging from Introduction to Business to upper-division courses in Business Law, Negotiation and Conflict Management, Human Resources and Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Social Entrepreneurship.
  • Candidates must have evidence of a strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts environment.
  • Interacting with students, working collaboratively with faculty from other disciplines, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values, and culture must be a top priority of the candidate.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience with hybrid and/or online delivery methods preferred.
  • Proficiency or strong familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of applications and the Canvas learning management system or equivalent LMS.
  • A vibrant Christian faith and commitment to an integration of faith and learning.

Benefits

This is a full-time position. Placement at the appropriate faculty rank and salary are based on qualifications, education, experience, and Vanguard University's faculty compensation schedule.

Pay

  • Assistant Professor: $60,595 to $81,501
  • Associate Professor: $70,676 to $95,190
  • Hightly qualified candidates may be considered for appointment as Department Chair, with additional compensation.

Schedule

Vanguard University offers both tenure-track and term faculty contracts. The type of contract offered will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications at the time of hire.
