About the role

The College of Nursing and Health Care Professions at Grand Canyon University is seeking a full-time faculty/leadership member for its Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction to students.
  • Stimulate class discussions.
  • Provide students with feedback on examinations and assignments.
  • Remain current with new trends and developments in his/her field of expertise.
  • Assesses and reports on program metrics, such as faculty workload and scholarly productivity, student satisfaction, program graduates, graduation rates, enrollments, etc. to assure program goals are being met.
  • Develop and provide instruction consistent with the University’s course load requirements that incorporates current teaching methodologies, technologies and other trends that reflect advances in the requisite discipline educational instruction.
  • Engage students within classroom to stimulate discussions for collective learning as well as assist and actively mentor students outside classroom hours.
  • Incorporate relevant research resources and experiential activities to support course objectives, lectures and learning outcomes.
  • Assess student performance in areas like progress, professional behaviors and academic standing in accordance with University Assessment Practices and accreditation standards.
  • Assist with curriculum design and development; be a sound advocate for change to programs, curriculum and teaching methodologies/pedagogies.

Requirements

  • Active, unencumbered PT license in the state of Arizona.
  • An academic doctoral degree: PhD or EdDA.
  • A minimum of six years full time higher education experience.
  • A minimum of three years full time experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE-accredited entry-level physical therapist education program.
  • Experience in: Administration, management and leadership, Educational theory and methodology, Instructional design, Student evaluation, Outcome assessment, Fiscal management, Program evaluation, assessment and curriculum development.
  • Prior engagement at the academy/academic institutional level.
  • Evidence of involvement in one’s professional area (e.g., membership in professional organizations, presentations, research and/or publications).

Skills

Knowledge of physical therapy principles, practices, and procedures.
