About the Role

Lone Star College-Online seeks a faculty member to teach online English courses. The role involves planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning. This is an in-person position with remote work allowed up to three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Teaches online courses in English in response to institutional needs
• Makes continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods
• Develops and uses a syllabus for each course within college and departmental guidelines
• Plans, develops and uses a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles
• Evaluates students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and informs them in a timely manner of their progress
• Submits required college reports and forms
• Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials
• Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community
• Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods
• Responsible for professional development and institutional service as determined in consultation with their supervisor
• Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in English, literature, creative writing or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in English, literature, creative writing or rhetoric-composition studies

• Experience working in online teaching and learning
• Experience working in online course development and delivery
• Experience working with online teaching platforms and tools
• Experience working in a comprehensive community college environment
• Demonstrated understanding of the role and impact of artificial intelligence within the discipline and the ability to make informed decisions about its appropriate use in course development, instructional delivery, assessment, and student learning

Pay

Salary is commensurate with education, experience and qualifications. The salary offer is determined by related experience and education. The resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate the salary offer.

Schedule

Hours vary depending on class time. Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction. This is an in-person position with remote work allowed up to three days per week.
