Facility Systems Tech - Mercy Hospital Lebanon - Full Time

About the Role

This is a skilled position requiring advanced knowledge of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, control system maintenance and operation, plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and painting. The Facility Systems Technician provides the necessary skills to operate, maintain, and repair various electrical/plumbing systems, movable equipment, physical plant equipment, furniture, walls, ceilings, and floors. The role supports small and midsize hospitals, critical access hospitals, small inpatient/outpatient facilities, and clinics with minimal supervision.

The purpose of this position is to ensure a safe working environment and support an exceptional Environment of Care for Mercy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HVAC, boilers, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Operate and troubleshoot control systems and physical plant equipment.
• Perform carpentry, painting, and maintenance of walls, ceilings, and floors.
• Utilize customer service and communication skills to interact with staff and stakeholders.
• Prioritize work assignments and manage time and materials efficiently.
• Complete work assignments with high quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and specifications.
• Use computer software such as Outlook, TMS, and/or Nuvolo.

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of commercial experience working with HVAC, boilers, and refrigeration equipment.
• Valid Driver’s License for all Mercy locations.
• High Pressure Boiler Operator’s License (Arkansas Dept. of Labor and Licensing) for Mercy Arkansas Hospitals; must be obtained within 1 year of employment if not already held.
• Class III Boiler Operator’s License (Oklahoma Dept. of Labor) for Mercy Hospital OKC; must be obtained within 90 days of employment if not already held.
• Class C Tank Operator Training and Certification; must be achieved within 90 days of employment.
• EPA Universal Certification (40CFR, Part 82, Subpart F); must be achieved within 12 months of employment.
• Fire door maintenance training program with certificate of completion; must be completed within 90 days of employment if not already held.
• UL fire stop training with certificate of completion; must be completed within 90 days of employment if not already held.

Skills and Knowledge

• Oral and written communication skills for customer interaction and following instructions.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals and blueprints.
• Numerical ability for calculations related to testing, installation, measurement, estimation, and repair.
• Form perception and spatial ability for measuring, installing parts, and working from specifications.
• Basic math knowledge and mechanical aptitude.
• General manual dexterity.
• Ability to prioritize work and conceptualize finished products.
• Exceptional customer service skills and ability to achieve department goals.
• Must pass oral and written competency exams to advance to Facility Systems Technician III.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, electric shock, and loud noise.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years of training in a Technical or Vocational School.
• 5+ years of experience in facility maintenance within a healthcare environment.
• Boiler, HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical, and/or Plumbing licensure.
• Training in NFPA 80 regulations for fire door inspection and maintenance.
• Training in UL standards for fire stopping.
• ASSE 6040 training for medical gas maintenance.
