About the role
The Facility Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of facility systems, equipment, and building infrastructure to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant environment. This position supervises maintenance personnel, coordinates preventive maintenance programs, manages work orders, and ensures adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of maintenance and plant services staff.
- Plan, assign, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance work for facility systems and equipment.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and utility systems.
- Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
- Prioritize and schedule work orders to minimize operational disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, environmental standards, and organizational policies.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance staff performance.
- Cookordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers for specialized repairs and projects.
- Maintain maintenance records, equipment histories, and regulatory documentation.
- Assist in developing and managing departmental budgets, inventory, and purchasing activities.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations and coordinate corrective actions.
- Support facility improvement projects, renovations, and capital equipment installations.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems.
- Understanding of safety regulations, OSHA requirements, and maintenance best practices.
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or technical certification in facilities maintenance, engineering technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- 3–7 years of facility, plant operations, or maintenance experience.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is desirable.
