Facility Supervisor
About the role
Goodwill of the Finger Lakes is seeking a Facility Supervisor to support the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of their facilities. The role involves close collaboration with the Facilities & Risk Compliance Manager and oversees a team of maintenance and custodial staff.
Responsibilities
40% – Daily Maintenance Oversight: Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance, repairs, and support for buildings, grounds, and facility systems. Ensure hands-on tasks are completed efficiently and safely. Monitor building systems and respond to routine operational needs.
25% – Staff Supervision and Safety Compliance: Direct maintenance staff, custodians, and technicians. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide coaching. Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Conduct regular inspections and safety drills. Oversee onboarding and training of new maintenance staff.
20% – Vendor Coordination and Record Keeping: Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or services. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, expenses, and compliance checks. Track work orders and ensure timely completion. Approve repairs, purchases, and vendor work up to $3,000; escalate larger needs to the Facility Manager.
15% – Emergency Response and Budget Support: Respond to facility-related emergencies and troubleshoot issues promptly. Support budget tracking and cost control for operations and repairs. Assist in planning and executing minor projects and preventive maintenance. Manage fleet vehicles, including scheduling inspections, coordinating repairs, and ensuring compliance. Participate in on-call rotation for urgent facility needs. Utilize digital tools such as Excel, Salesforce, Word, ADP, and Co-Pilot/AI platforms. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
5+ years of experience in building maintenance or facilities operations.
Previous experience supervising teams in a maintenance or facilities setting.
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, ADP, and familiarity with AI tools.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Additional Considerations
TRAVEL: Begins daily at 422 Main Campus; travel to all Goodwill of the Finger Lakes locations as needed.
CERTIFICATIONS: Must have a valid, clean driver’s license and own vehicle.
