Facility Projects Mechanical Coordinator

About the role

This role supports maintenance and construction work in DOE Hazard Category 2 and 3 nuclear facilities and laboratories within the Superblock facility. The position reports programmatically to the Superblock and administratively to the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the Engineering Directorate.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance and construction activities in nuclear and hazardous facilities from planning through field execution and closeout.
• Support work control functions, including planning, scheduling, sequencing, readiness review, and issue resolution.
• Verify that personnel, materials, equipment, procedures, and work packages are available and aligned before work begins.
• Serve as a coordination point between technical staff, project management, operations, Quality Assurance, procurement, vendors, and material handling organizations.
• Track work progress, resolve field issues, and escalate barriers affecting safety, schedule, quality, or facility operations.
• Support procurement and material readiness by coordinating with designers, vendors, purchasing, and receiving organizations.
• Maintain compliance with safety, security, environmental, regulatory, configuration management, and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Help ensure maintenance and construction activities are executed in alignment with operational priorities and facility constraints.
• Maintain accurate documentation to support inspections, approvals, turnover, and work closeout.

Qualifications

• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in construction, operations of facility systems or utility site infrastructure systems.
• Advanced communication skills with proven ability to present concepts and ideas in a clear and coherent manner, both verbal and written.
• Experience using work process documents, procedures, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to plan and coordinate maintenance or construction activities.
• Strong communication skills and working knowledge of safety, security, environmental and regulatory requirements.

Additional Qualifications

• At the 369.2 level: Extensive technical and administrative experience, including highly advanced technical and administrative authority in executing construction activities and operations.
• Extensive experience directing complex fabrications, assemblies, and procurements, including construction projects or similar activities.
• Advanced knowledge of the standards, procedures, and techniques related to maintenance and/or construction project coordination.

Pay Range

$125,310 - $185,640 Annually

Schedule

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
