Facility Operations Manager

About the role

The Facilities Manager will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Howard County Circuit Courthouse. This on-site role includes leadership in ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and reliably every day.

Responsibilities

• Regular communication with the client
• Maintenance of the CMMS system
• Strategic planning and execution of preventive maintenance programs
• Thoughtful lifecycle planning of assets
• Maintaining strong fiscal discipline
• Serving as the primary client-level liaison for operational, contractual, and financial matters
• Developing, managing, and tracking operating budgets and financial forecasts
• Delegating tasks, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accountability across the team
• Managing subcontractors and vendor relationships
• Managing supervisors and staff, including hiring, promotions, recognition, performance improvement plans, and ongoing performance monitoring
• Providing technical and managerial guidance to the operations team
• Providing oversight of day-to-day operations as well as long-term planning activities
• Reading and interpreting blueprints and as-built drawings
• Managing multi-disciplinary teams and cross-functional working groups
• Leading customer and stakeholder meetings
• Developing a team culture focused on Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement
• Supporting mission-critical or high-availability facilities
• Ensuring compliance with OSHA codes, regulations, and safety compliance requirements

Requirements

Customer service mindset with very strong communication and people skills, impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to prepare and deliver accurate monthly operational and financial reports. A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience in a facilities management discipline with 10+ years of progressive responsibility. Minimum of 10 years of management and leadership experience with a reputable organization. BOMA and/or IFMA designation (RPA/CFM) preferred. Proficient with Windows-based software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project. Hands-on experience managing preventive maintenance and repairs for MEP, fire alarm systems, security systems, and building automation systems. Knowledge of OSHA codes, regulations, and safety compliance requirements.
