Facility Operations Manager

About the role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join Johnson Controls and manage and maintain the Howard County Circuit Courthouse.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the facility to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
• Communicate regularly with the client and monitor the CMMS system.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs and lifecycle planning of assets.
• Prepare and deliver accurate monthly operational and financial reports.
• Manage operating budgets and financial forecasts to align with contractual and organizational objectives.
• Delegate tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accountability across the team.
• Take off-hour calls and respond to emergencies.
• Build, develop, and lead a high-performing operations team.
• Comprehend complex contract terms and collaborate with the customer to ensure alignment with contractual obligations and operational policies.
• Manage subcontractors and vendors, including contract administration, performance monitoring, compliance, and cost control.
• Administer documentation related to extension requests, relief events, and repair justifications in accordance with contract requirements.
• Review, develop, and implement operational procedures and best practices.
• Provide oversight of day-to-day operations and long-term planning activities.
• Manage supervisors and staff, including hiring, promotions, recognition, performance improvement plans, and ongoing performance monitoring.
• Provide technical and managerial guidance to the operations team.
• Read and interpret blueprints and as-built drawings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience in a facilities management discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility in management and leadership roles with a reputable organization.
• BOMA and/or IFMA designation (RPA/CFM) preferred.
• Proficiency with Windows-based software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project.
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and cross-functional working groups.
• Proven experience leading customer and stakeholder meetings.
• Demonstrated ability to manage operations in compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
• Track record of developing a team culture focused on Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement.
• Hands-on experience managing preventive maintenance and repairs for MEP, fire alarm systems, security systems, and building automation systems.
• Experience supporting mission-critical or high-availability facilities.
• Knowledge of OSHA codes, regulations, and safety compliance requirements.

Pay

Hiring Salary Range: $89,400 - $119,300 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
