About the role
SUNY Brockport is accepting applicants for a Facility Operations Assistant 1. The Facilities Operations Assistant 1 assists in a variety of routine unskilled and semiskilled manual tasks related to the maintenance of State-owned buildings and facilities.
Job Functions
- Performs routine and unskilled work such as carrying supplies and equipment
- Erects ladders and scaffolding, cleaning, flushing and repairing gutters and drains, removing materials from construction sites
- Prepares surfaces and spreading paint
- Digs ditches, loading, and unloading trucks, carrying bricks and mortar
- Performs rough carpentry and masonry work, and cleaning the work site after repair work is completed
- Aids skilled and semi-skilled positions by performing a variety of activities and tasks involving the use of elementary skills in one or a combination of trades
- Uses hand tools, power tools, various shop equipment, measuring devices and motor equipment
- Reviews Email and the work order system daily and provides appropriate feedback via work order system
- Aids with moving and snow removal
Operating Needs
- Works both scheduled and unscheduled overtime as needed
- Contact numbers must be available
- Climbs, stoops, and does moderate to heavy lifting
- Must be able to obtain Operations and Maintenance certification for asbestos removal
- Must possess a valid New York State Driver License, Class D or above (other than a motorcycle license); this is verified through the NY State Department of Motor Vehicles
- Must pass LENS Check
Requirements
- Labor Class: There are no education or experience qualifications for this class. Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions
- When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated and able to pass LENS Check
- High school diploma or equivalent

- Work Schedule: 40 hours/week: Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
