Lead one of Austin's premier emergency departments at St. David's Medical Center, a flagship tertiary care hospital located adjacent to The University of Texas at Austin. Summer 2027 marks the launch of the hospital's inaugural Emergency Medicine Residency Program, offering the facility medical director a unique opportunity to help shape the future of emergency medicine education while leading a high-performing clinical team.
About The Facility
- A 435-bed tertiary care hospital
- 35-bed emergency department with approximately 44,000 annual visits
- High-acuity patient population
- Specialty support across cardiac, stroke, trauma, and surgical services
- Efficient workflows and collaborative physician leadership
- Opportunity to work alongside and help develop the hospital's inaugural EM residency program
Leadership Opportunity
- Provide overall strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the ED
- Partner with hospital administration and TeamHealth leadership to drive quality, patient experience, physician engagement, and departmental performance
- Mentor and develop physicians, APCs, and future EM residents
- Champion clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and evidence-based best practices
- Leverage leadership development opportunities with access to TeamHealth's nationally recognized leadership resources and mentorship
Position Details
- W2 employed position
- Base rate + RVU compensation model
- Additional monthly administrative stipend + quarterly incentives
- Enhanced sign-on bonus
- Night differential available
- Flexible 8- to 10-hour physician shifts

Candidate Requirements
- ABEM board certified
- Previous physician leadership experience preferred
- Eligible for Texas medical licensure
- Active clinical practice within the last 12 months
- ACLS, PALS, and ATLS (expired ATLS accepted)
