Responsibilities
- Routine Maintenance: Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards
- Performs light maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs, inspect circuit breaker panels etc.)
- Maintain plumbing systems to ensure functionality
- Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed
- Repairs: Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary
- Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows etc.)
- Facility Upkeep: Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate
- Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g. landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry, sheetrock etc.)
- Operations Support: Moves furniture, sets up rooms, and manages inventory of cleaning and repair supplies
- Documentation: Maintains logs of completed work, repairs, and inspections
- Completes work orders assigned by Director of Plant Operations or Maintenance Supervisor
Requirements
- Physical Ability: Climbing, ability to ascend descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps using feet, legs, hands and arms
- Body agility is important
- Maintaining bodily equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces
- Stooping, bending downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist
- Kneeling bending a the knees to come to rest on single or both knees
- Crouching bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine
- Crawling, moving about on hands, knees and feet
- Reaching, extending hands and arms in any direction
