Facility maintenance worker (Full-time)

Responsibilities

  • Routine Maintenance: Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards
  • Performs light maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs, inspect circuit breaker panels etc.)
  • Maintain plumbing systems to ensure functionality
  • Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed
  • Repairs: Assist in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary
  • Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows etc.)
  • Facility Upkeep: Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g. landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry, sheetrock etc.)
  • Operations Support: Moves furniture, sets up rooms, and manages inventory of cleaning and repair supplies
  • Documentation: Maintains logs of completed work, repairs, and inspections
  • Completes work orders assigned by Director of Plant Operations or Maintenance Supervisor

Requirements

  • Physical Ability: Climbing, ability to ascend descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps using feet, legs, hands and arms
  • Body agility is important
  • Maintaining bodily equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces
  • Stooping, bending downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist
  • Kneeling bending a the knees to come to rest on single or both knees
  • Crouching bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine
  • Crawling, moving about on hands, knees and feet
  • Reaching, extending hands and arms in any direction
