Facility Maintenance Representative - Bancroft, Multi-site - Part-Time

Responsibilities

  • Maintains physical plant using computerized BAS and performs walk-through inspections of mechanical rooms.
  • Reports observations and concerns to Team Leader or Manager.
  • Responds to trouble calls, records calls and actions in log book.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and rebuilding of equipment, medical gas systems, control air systems, air dryers and filters.
  • Tests and adjusts equipment following good trade practices and manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Installs various hospital equipment using blueprints, sketches, specifications, and manuals.
  • Performs tests and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, heating and cooling water systems, steam systems, coil tube boiler systems, controls and related equipment.
  • Ensures supply of necessary materials for maintenance work, orders new material as required.
  • Liaises with contractors on projects, provides input with respect to new equipment, assists other tradesman and Facility staff as required.

Requirements

  • Required Post secondary education with an Ontario Trade Certificate in a recognized Mechanical Trade (Red Seal).
  • Experience in a Health Care Setting.
  • Valid Ontario drivers license.
  • Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload.
  • Must be able to respond to call backs to the hospital within 30 minutes.
  • Must be able to look up and understand codes and legislation.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with preventive maintenance, trouble-shooting, repair and rebuilding of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, refrigeration equipment, minor electrical and plumbing preferred.

Skills

  • Computer literacy.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Schedule

Regular scheduled hours with rotational on-call basis including evenings, overnight and weekends.

Physical Demands

Strength: Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Mobility: Frequent standing and walking on hard surfaces.

Dexterity: Frequent reaching, neck, elbow, shoulder, wrist and back normal range of motion.

Material Handling: Occasional material handling, gripping/grasping.

Fine Finger Movements: Occasional fine finger movements.
