Essential Functions
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, components, switchgears, motors, compressors, generators, transformer taps and equipment related to commercial buildings.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and identify the root cause of problems in electrical systems.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand the layout and specifications of electrical systems.
- Adhere to safety protocols and standards to prevent accidents, electrical hazards, and injuries.
- Conduct thorough testing and inspection of electrical systems using specialized equipment to assess the functionality and performance of electrical components.
- Lead others in highly skilled fabrication or modifications of existing or proposed equipment, facilities, systems or their components from verbal directions, sketches, plans, engineering drawings or technical references.
- Prepare estimates for unique or complex operations, maintenance and special projects from rough sketches and engineering plans or drawings, and document use and expenditures of materials, supplies and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of electrical work through a Computer Maintenance Management System.
- Communicate effectively, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
- Stay updated with industry advancements, new technologies, and changes in electrical codes.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Respond to after-hour emergencies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, along with successful completion of an electrical apprentice program.
- Minimum of five years of experience as an electrician.
- Minimum four (4) years journey-level experience in industrial and commercial electrical installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Completion of a state-accredited electrical apprenticeship program.
- Valid Driver’s License to perform field work and/or to operate county owned vehicles required.
