Maintenance Carpenter Journeyman-Facilities Services Department
SUMMARY
Plan, design, construct, repair, install and maintain District buildings, equipment and furnishings in compliance with current building codes. Perform regular preventative maintenance on a variety of building components. Prepare estimates, orders and work schedules, maintain comprehensive computerized maintenance records.
Job Tasks
- Construct, install, relocate, remove and/or repair all district buildings, equipment and furnishings including partition walls, doors, cabinets, shelving, countertops, and furniture.
- Athletic equipment and bleacher systems.
- Replace, attach, move and repair classroom aids and equipment.
- Install smart boards, large screen televisions and various other large, mounted equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, materials used, and time spent on projects using the district's computerized work order system
- Cook with district painters as needed.
- Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
- Meet with District staff, provide design ideas and estimates on materials and labor for small remodel projects and site use changes within area of responsibility.
- Work with Planning, Design and Construction staff in the design stage of new projects to address carpentry concerns.
- Identify and make immediate emergency mitigation decisions regarding district infrastructure.
- Inspect and repair/replace a variety of district building floor systems, coordinate with contractors on small area replacement when necessary.
- Repair, replace and upgrade window glass in accordance with International Building Code and International Fire Code
- Perform and track regular preventative maintenance to a large variety of building components including athletic equipment, restroom systems and various lunchroom items including tables and benches.
- Identify and schedule repairs to a variety of roof systems; perform preventative maintenance on all district roofs.
- Respond as essential personnel in case of an emergency, weather or environmental event, and/or school/facility/district closure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & LICENSES REQUIRED
- High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school or short term courses in commercial building design, construction and maintenance
- Two to three years of experience in rough and finish carpentry, flooring, drywall and general building maintenance
- 60302 -- Carpenter Journeyman
- Criminal background check required for hire
- Must meet District driver insurability requirements
